Shavlik, a specialist in modern enterprise patch management, presents version 9.2 of the security solution Shavlik Protect. It gives IT administrators a tool to patch not only Microsoft operating systems and software, but also various standard Adobe, Apple, Google, or Oracle solutions.
The version 9.2 improved, among other things, the scope of planning and the release processes of patches. IT managers should also benefit from the streamlined protection and patching process and gain time through automation options. "Protect 9.2 gives IT departments greater control over more applications than any other product on the market," promises Shavlik.
Network administration via the cloud
Shavlik also introduced the cloud-based Empower solution. The tool gives IT administrators real-time access to various systems over the Internet. For example, the solution collects information from Shavlik Protect, Active Directory, and other systems on and off the network. Administrators can also remotely track every issue of an endpoint. According to Shavlik, this will improve the management of users and devices and enable efficient IT operation with high security. For the first time, the solution also integrates Mac systems, including Mac OS X Inventory. Mac support is billed via a subscription model per workstation. Shavlik Empower itself is available to all Shavlik Protect customers at no extra charge.Patch manager for many systems
Using Protect and Empower together, users can quickly and easily access all their operational, security, and patching information from a central location in the cloud, according to Shavlik. The Empower platform adds asset and patch support for Mac systems. "Shavlik Protect remains the solution for patching business-critical systems in data centers and ensuring that security holes are closed," said Chris Goettl, senior product manager at Shavlik.
