As CTO, Oliver Bendig is responsible for the product strategy, roadmap and further development of the Matrix42 product portfolio. He is involved with innovations, developments and changes in the IT and knows the requirements of the enterprise to the modern IT work environment. Based on this wealth of experience, his IT forecasts for the new year are based.
1. Adaptive Workspace Access
The context-based provision of workplaces in terms of location, time, equipment or available bandwidth will play a major role in the coming months. According to Bendig, companies will use clever management tools to ensure that their employees have the right apps, documents and data on the right device at the right time so they can do their job as easily as possible. For example, access to sensitive data could be controlled by a mobile device based on location, or the configuration of a printer at the current location could be automatically performed.
2. Unified Endpoint Management
The merging of mobile and traditional devices is already a reality, so the holistic management of this indifferent situation is becoming increasingly important through a unified solution and a unified management process. Because the assignment of devices and applications is becoming increasingly difficult to understand and control, Oliver Bendig's topic is Unified Endpoint Management on the IT Agenda 2016.
3. Virtual Personal Assistants / Voice Control
Siri, Cortana and Co. will not only be spreading in their private lives - for the Matrix42-CTO they already have the potential to develop into a personal assistant in their day-to-day work, helping with mails and the implementation of appointments. Bendig believes that controlling management tasks (eg locking devices, updating) via Voice Control will not be long in coming.
4. Smartwatches and wearables
Smartwatches and wearables will, according to Bendig, develop from a status symbol to an extension of the workplace. The data collection and transmission via wearables already established in the healthcare sector, the manufacturing industry or the logistics industry will soon prevail in other sectors. According to Gartner, 5 million smartwatches are to be deployed in the Enterprise environment by 2018, which must be managed and secured.
5. Social ITSM
The functionalities of social networks have become indispensable in many areas. This also applies to IT service management, which, Bendig predicted, will change even more in the direction of interaction next year. In his opinion, concepts such as "Employee Helping Employees" and interactive knowledge platforms will increase and Hashtag-tagged N: 1 or N: N communication will become a matter of course.
6. License Management for Cloud / Mobile First Era
Companies are increasingly turning to mobile and SaaS applications. Bendig concludes that they have to worry about the license management in the mobile / cloud era, because the new apps a new complexity for license management, but also possible cost optimization for companies, eg usage analysis for SaaS apps like Office 365, Salesforce or Citrix GoToMeeting. That's why license management plays an important role for Cloud 2016.
7. Workspace aggregation
Working methods and jobs are changing so rapidly that Gartner is talking about a workspace aggregation. Because the context-based linking of apps, data, information, services and identities is becoming increasingly important, the browser will establish itself as a new operating system.
8. Predictive Workspace Analytics
Predictions and simulations about jobs and the associated processes are gaining in importance. As reasons called Bendig more complex connections and increasing investments (budget, personnel). It helps IT managers to be able to simulate recurring tasks or lengthy processes, such as rollouts, in advance, as well as, for example, high incident rates at the service desk. In addition, licensing adjustments are interesting for many companies to identify savings and compliance implications.
9. Internet of Things / Services
The Internet of Things (IoT), like smartwatches and wearables, will increasingly become a fixture in everyday working life. The automated communication of devices and areas could improve many logistics and production processes. But also in the classic office area, IoT will generate high added value, eg through the integration of classic workplace management with home automation systems. For example, the preparation and implementation of meetings including automation of the telephone system, lighting control and the beamer can be optimized. Combined with voice control capabilities, IoT will quickly become a powerful business tool and simplify the use of IT in the enterprise.
10. Windows 10 Universal Apps
Windows 10 Universal Apps have the advantage, according to Bendig, that there is only one code for all device types. This will soon lead to an exponential increase in the programming and distribution of apps, both for home and business.
