Software-based PBX with new cloud features

3CX introduces version 14 of the flexible IP PBX for Microsoft Windows. In addition to new smartphone clients for iOS, Android and Windows Phone, the video conferencing solution 3CX WebMeeting has also been upgraded.

3CX offers with 3CX Phone System a software-based telephone system that brings all the features of a full-fledged PBX. The solution is an open-standards-based IP PBX for Microsoft Windows, which was released in version 14.

The highlight of the new version is the integration of mobile platforms based on iOS, Android and Windows, for which push-enabled smartphone clients with an integrated SIP tunnel were introduced. This turns smartphones into the seamlessly integrated extension of the business phone. The extension number is simply taken. Thanks to the push function, according to 3CX the battery of the mobile devices is spared. Calls via the mobile client should be as easy to make and receive as regular mobile calls.

videoconferencing

The video module 3CX WebMeeting has been enhanced for version 14 in many ways. For example, the developers have improved WebRTC support, which should benefit video quality. In addition, the module has been extended by a remote control, with which, for example, the computer can be controlled by participants of a webinar. Other features include webinar recording for YouTube, an interactive survey tool, and the ability to turn PowerPoint presentations into HTML format to save bandwidth during transmission. According to 3CX, the web conferencing module WebMeeting can be used company-wide for up to 10 participants free of charge.Bigger offer

From now on, customers can also choose a hosted PBX based on Windows as a service between an on-site installation. This benefits 3CX partners in particular, who want to expand their portfolio with virtual PBX services, 3CX explains the new possibilities. Version 14 of 3CX Phone System can provide as a virtual PBX server on a single Microsoft Windows machine up to 25 instances of the 3CX facility. The services and data storage of the 3CX systems are managed completely separate from each other, according to the provider.

Simplified features for administrators

To make it easier for administrators to work, the plant management has been streamlined. For example, version 14 has a system backup and schedule recovery. With the Pro Edition, a virtual copy of the 3CX Phone System can easily be kept ready to serve as an emergency replacement in the event of a server failure.

Other new features designed to make it easier for administrators to work: email reports, voicemail memory management, and other recordings. In addition, the system now supports numerous additional SIP trunk providers such as Broadvoice, AMcom, Deutsche Telekom and Time Warner Cable.
